So as you are walking through the room, you trip and spill your coffee all over the carpet. Coffee stains on carpet can make it look dingy and old. But not to worry, in just a few simple steps you can have that mess cleaned up, and it will look like nothing was there. Below you will find the steps needed to make this stain disappear.

  1. First you want to use a clean white cloth to absorb as much of the liquid as possible. Work your way from the outside of the stain so you do not spread the spill any farther.
  2. Mix together 1 tsp of mild washing detergent (such as dish soap or laundry soap) and one cup of lukewarm water. Using a sponge, apply this mixture to the stain. And then soak it up with a clean white rag or cloth.
  3. Mix a 1/3 cup of white vinegar with 2/3 cup lukewarm water. Using a sponge, apply this mixture to the area. And soak it up with a clean white rag or cloth.
  4. Then clean the area with clean lukewarm water. And soak up the remaining liquid with a clean white rag or cloth. Be sure to dry the area the best you can to avoid mold and mildew setting up.

The whole purpose of using a white rag or cloth is to see if you are actively removing the stain from the carpet. If you use a rag that is colored you risk the chance of transferring any color that may be in the rag or cloth. And this would defeat the purpose of trying to remove the coffee stain from the carpet.

You also have the option of buying a stain and spot remover from the store and using it to remove you’re the coffee stains on carpet. If you already have this readily available in your home, you can use it. But it is highly suggested that you remove the coffee as soon as possible so the stain does not have time to set into the carpet. The longer the stain sits the harder it will be to remove it completely.
